Motivation

Talk about motivation for a creative new year!  This kit has it!  Ali Edwards’ “Stories by the Month Digital: January 2019” is fabulous!  I just loved the “Happy Brand New Year” card and although wasn’t able to fit it on this layout, I’ll need to use it on my first layout of the year.  It’ll make a great start to my 2019 album!aedwards_sbtm_jan2019_prev_original

I’m always amazed when I put the original kit side by side with my layout.  Digitals is where it’s at!  Can you believe how much you can personalize a kit??  Pick your favorite elements, simply recolor to match your photos, enlarge/minimize, and voila, a unique layout!

You can use digital stamps as titles, embellishments, or even to create your own journaling cards.  When I think of creating my journaling cards, I gravitate usually to an image or icon digital sticker.  With all that writing about what’s going on in your layout, the most assumed element would be an image so as not to clutter or detract from the journaling.  But in this layout, I chose to use WORDS as an embellishment to my journaling card.  “New Year Truths” was the same font as the other cards I used and because it’s much bolder than my writing, it works!

I really loved the digital stamp “motivation” and set that as my focus on the left side of the layout, a title in a sense.  The font was the same as the “One day at a time” stamp so I used that on the right side to create balance.  Sometimes you may think that having SO many words on a layout will seem cluttered or…too wordy.  But the boldness of fonts and even circle shape around “One Day at a Time” create a graphic look!  Below I’ve swapped sides just for the closeup 😉
